Not more advanced, just different. We have pre-release screenshots from developer portfolios that show the dynamic lighting had incredibly dithered shadow artifacts and show that the lighting of scenes were changed to benefit gameplay.

Portal 2 development never actually used volumetric lighting, it was solely something they would use in pre-rendered trailers and videos out of SFM.

This is the exact same volumetric tech, however forced to run in the game itself. It can be a little buggy but it IS the same one.

(it also has a tendancy to expose the fact a lot of portal 2's dynamic lighting doesn't tend to have an actual real starting point, as some are just placed in the air w/o a source lmao)

I really do need to emphasise for anyone planning to use this - beware it WILL happily nom on your GPU and lower-end PCs would suffer. These volumetrics are not game-ready and designed expressely for use in SFM render output, so they're not going to look the best in motion and could cause issues.

this is genuinely part of it, interloper Tried to keep casual viewers in the loop by summarising things in the next episode but it gets to a point where the episodes felt like 80% “look what these people who partook in my arg did” and 20% new plot, and thats just. not how you should handle that

i actually used winmerge to check if there WAS differences in the first place, that list you see on the right was me using that so i would know what to check from each version
