The code for volumetrics as seen in those pre-rendered videos is actually still in the game, and a plugin has been developed by Henry to patch it back in!
Be warned it is INCREDIBLY unperformant, as it's made for SFM rendering.

The final level is also entirely unfinished art-wise, it's literally just a giant blockout.

This map is effectively all artpassed and finished - however, it contains a really strange gimmick where you launch out of a rotated portal. It's not intuitive at all and was likely cut for that exact reason.

This map is incredibly simple. It has a Light Bridge and two Turrets. This seems to be less of a cut level and more of an early version of what eventually became the 'Shield' level, where you rotate & surf your portal to have a Light Bridge shield against Turrets.

This map is an incredibly simple room based on the layout for the Faith Plate introduction - however, it contains a unique feature in that completing the puzzle requires quite literally slam dunking an Edgeless Safety Cube into a Pneumatic Diverity Vent.

The biggest changes are early level layouts, 3 cut levels, and the January 2011 texture for the Scaleable Cube!!!

The TL;DR is that they want mods to have clear names that indicate they aren't games by Valve, so you can't use subtitles like 'Source' or 'Classic'.
