Obviously I posted this without bothering to look it up. So, yes, Wikipedia confirms there are open source car options. 🙂

I wonder how far this could stretch. Could a startup car company do the same and offer an alternative to the proprietary BS that goes into all the major cars nowadays. Could someone just offer a quality "open source" car where we can buy replacement parts from any manufacturer?
