I love the PNW, gloomy days, tall trees, reproductive rights, and crows. Can often be found reading with a cat on my lap.
From the Zoo: “After more than 20 months of pregnancy, Rose-Tu, a 30-year-old Asian elephant at the Oregon Zoo, gave birth at 4:29 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1. ….the calf appears to be a healthy, strong female, weighing in the vicinity of 200 pounds.”

Oregon cheese company won Best Cheddar at the 2024 World Cheese Awards. Forty-seven countries participated. We’ve had their Maker’s Reserve, though not the 2014, and it’s very good.

Oregon-There’s a special little museum called Five Oaks on the PCC Rock Creek campus. The current exhibit is focused on white oaks. We went to a special event there and had acorn flour cookies. I learned that the local tribes leached the tannins out by putting them in baskets in streams for a week.

Beavers were here. They used to relocate the beavers in the park but gave up on that and just accept flooded paths.

In Oregon we have Hipster Santa. Really. He was at the mall down the street today.

This was our very first Christmas tree, 44 years ago. We were poor, so we waited until Christmas Eve when we could get it for almost nothing.

Got this cool handmade notebook at the small Business Saturday Crafts Fair. So exciting to have a blank journal to fill.

The obligatory pie photo on the night before American Thanksgiving. Not much to be thankful for this year, so we need our supportive friends and family more than ever.

Just finished this book. Found it interesting and I’d recommend it to WWII history buffs. It really delves deep into the pro and anti war divisions in the US. The author uses a lot of direct quotes from Lindbergh’s journal and speeches, and does the same with FDR’s letters and speeches.

Photo I took in the Nimbus Business Park a couple weeks ago. I like how the bird is framed.

Almost all the leaves are off the trees now. We’re entering the gloomy part of the year, when it is either raining or overcast. Excellent weather for reading and trying new recipes, though.
