"If I could take your troubles
I would toss them in the sea,
But all these things I'm finding
Are impossible for me.
I cannot build a mountain
Or catch a rainbow fair,
But let me be what I know best,
A friend that is always there."
~ Khalil Gibran

I’m no stranger to loneliness, as those with the patience to follow me here know all too well.

But the promise of an AI “companion” who gives you what you want, and only what you want, when you want it, with no friction, no disagreement, no agency — that’s the Devil and his false promises.

This is your occasional reminder that telling people “no, fuck off” (in @angryblacklady.blacksky.app parlance) can be an edifying spiritual practice in an appropriate context

An alternative interpretation of that phrase can be “bless your heart”
Like we literally do not have to take these fucking jagoffs or their thought experiments seriously. And when you tell them they’re full of shit they can’t function because they’ve only ever been told they’re exceptional

OPINION: Catherine Connolly's Irish presidential win highlights how delusional the country has become when it comes to security.

It should also serve as a wake-up call for other EU members in terms of the country’s unreliability on defense issues.
The case for an Anglo-Irish defense union
Only a formal bilateral agreement with the U.K. can deliver the territorial security that Ireland — and the EU’s western borders — desperately needs.

Increase in productivity since 1979: 87%

Increase in hourly pay since 1979: 32%

Just so happens that ~25% of workers were unionized in 1979. Today? 10%.

As unions declined, the super-rich have taken a larger share of wealth generated by labor. We must build back union power.
