I love open-source projects, games, music, and movies. I don't support anything that is not opensource, financially nor morally. Open-Source is the future of gaming and life in general. Let's look forward to a better tomorrow.
My only recommendation is to first be immersed with the game engine itself making some small projects like "Jump-Test" or "TopDownShooter-Test" just to get your boots off the ground. When you use AI at this stage it should be really only used as a search tool and not just copy, paste then move on.

Eh, not really. Some people outside of the gamedev and programming space will say otherwise but those people arent programmers or gamedevs. If it saves you time and your understanding of the basic mechanics of the engine then you'll go far.

We all start somewhere, when I started my game dev journey it was a simple top down game with nothing else to do except run around and for me to be proud of what I made. Roughly 7 years later and I have yet to release any sense of a major title but I still enjoy gamedev non the less! 🙂

The way it should be

The bot itself is going well, just wished making a discord bot was more straight forward and documentation was better put. Luckily I am experienced with Javascript and Python so I can find my way around but that's me. The LLM I have been using is Qwen3 (30B) for those in need.

Never heard of this but by god, bless open-source tech 🫡

Can't wait for the day that local/open-source AI models to be stronger and more capable than midjourney or other AI art tools. If I were to create anything with AI, it needs to be locally accessible so I can dictate the data that can be shared

There is nothing more important than the protection of privacy and data. Well other than everything being open-source that is 😉

Agreed, the less we support and purchase closed-source software, games, and music. With further support to open-source projects, games, software, and music. We can expect a better future where all data is controlled by us, where your in charge of what is going on and can change whatever you want.

I love tf2, the SDK is available to the public, the game is free-to-play. Its the gaming equivalent to "open-weight" AI models (somewhat). My ONLY problem is that it requires me to use steam to play the game. Other than that, with community mods like TF2 Classic, the game keeps making me revisit.

Looks very promising, I am hoping RISC-V becomes bigger than what it is right now. I plan on buying some hardware of my own in a couple of years. Everything I actively run and use is open-source, however all the applications are built for x86-64 only. Meaning I will have to compile everything.

It just as addicting as regular magic just without the "Yeah its a bracket 4" nonsense!

I actually like this, its nice. However, the model is not open-source or open weight. Until these AI models are available offline, I will not feed any of my data into it just for corporations to profit. Remember, you downloading these allows them to collect information that the AI did good enough.

One of the main reasons why I will not support AI art is due to the models being closed source or "not open weight". The true benefits of these tools will come when we are in control of the data we put into it and they can be ran locally offline. That way artists are truly in control.

No I have not! That sounds amazing! I will have to see how to do that to make life just that much easier.

The more we support open-source projects, the more transparent the road ahead will become. We don't have to worry about our favorite projects being shut down, nor our games being destroyed due to poor main-devs. We the people are in control, you can make it and change it they way you see fit.
