Like Spielberg uses all of the same basic language of Frank Capra, but his craft is SO refined that even the smallest details, like a shadow on the wall or a dolly in, just make the movie truly great.

The term “every frame a painting” gets thrown around a lot, but like genuinely it’s the most beautiful film ever made — but it’s so heart-achingly elegiac and baleful in the way only the best movies are.
