There's a town in the area that I describe as the most diverse grouping of white people possible. Old school farmers, townie rednecks, back to the land hippies, fly fishing outdoor bros, weekender bike libs, the Amish. All just going about their business with minimal conflict.

It's kind of mini-Appalichia in relief: The river valleys cut down instead of the mountains going up. Imagine North Carolina and Iowa had a baby. The limestone karst geology is super interesting. There are numerous trout streams, probably the best between the mountain ranges.
