based on his current trajectory of
-fail at Serie A club
->Get Premier League job
-Fail at Premier League club
->Get Champions League club
-Fail at Champions League club
I think we have to assume Juric's next job is going to be taking over from Slot at Liverpool in January

Which is fine if it's represented that way, but if the message is "We will treat people who vote the way we want identically to people who don't" then you're just not going to get anywhere

Then the correct response is to praise the people who voted the right way, attack the ones who voted the wrong way, and show that the former gets rewarded *regardless* of the motivation

sorry but anyone who thinks there is *any* chance this impacts Dem performance in November 2026 needs to log off and go outside, I don't care if it's late on a Sunday night

they'll just go for "She's only saying it for political reasons, she's lying!" because their true priority is honesty, like the guy who absolutely didn't know about his Nazi tattoo for 20 years

I think Dems should have held out longer. They held on enough to make Dear Leader bleed, and Congress is likely to wind up in the trenches again rather soon in one way or another, and Dear Leader will bleed yet again.
And even the deal will make him bleed, because of the idiotic FSA gimmick.

(I have legitimately never seen hatred of the Senate expressed to the extent and with the vehemence of House Dems during the initial ACA passage in 2009-10)

I actually laughed out loud at this though because this is literally the House vibe at *all times* during *every single piece of legislative action*

I think it's a mix of
1) them having held out for so long
2) it not being the usual suspects voting yes here
3) them getting SOMETHING out of it (even if not enough to many)
4) this CR only being through January
5) more people being seriously hurt by the shutdown than last time

And by the way, there *is* value in that and people should signal it. Freaking out at Schumer or the leadership for this one is essentially sending a signal saying you aren't paying attention and they shouldn't bother trying to placate you

as for all the "PRIMARY" fulminating, not a single senator who voted for the deal is up in 2026 as far as I can see, so there is a 0% chance it affects a single primary outcome, for better or worse

and obviously I like him like everyone else here, but the idea that Americans are going to suddenly change their minds on who was to blame and why it was bad because of arcane Senate maneuverings they won't hear anything about feels *very* tenuous

This feels like an *incredibly* testable hypothetical where Bouie has like a 99% chance of being wrong
