Well met Mr. Bread, it's been a pleasure to meet you. What a wild ride, you even got me digging in basement boxes. Not many people can inspire that 🤓😇. I hope we can both find copies.

I'm not sure if this is your wheelhouse, but this was really interesting imo. She's an amazing follow too
If you do a close read not only of the Bible but the archeology,

it starts to look like the Israelites, & all but a couple of Judean kings, worshipped a goddess for pretty much the whole First Temple era.

The implications of this are... far ranging--

& her name might not be what we've believed.

It's the largest astrology conference in... at least the US, I think. Co-sponsored by the major professional orgs.

(and interestingly the use of the La Mer scale throughout this whole movement of the oratorio came before I set this portion, but I think this is the most significant implementation of it.)

"and so the posts we stand from sill to sill
throughout the realm please all the realm
as much as please him who wills us to his will.

"in his will is our peace; his will is that sea
to which all moves, and all itself creates,
and nature bears through all eternity."

and, I think this means that it's time for me to start a habit of daily composing again. or just getting sketches on the paper. and then working a piece.

can we pull it off? big if true

my favorite moment in my entire senior recital (the only concert of my own music I've ever written) is a passage from a piece for orchestra that embodies the same qualities. I'll see if I can excerpt it and post it here. /9

so, I guess part of what I want to say is that I actually *want* to write music if it's in my idiom, but for some reason I've felt that I've had to write in someone else's idiom for the longest time that I forgot my own compositional voice. /8

instead of writing music that I know is My Idiom.

The last successful piece of music I wrote was a setting of the Prayer of St Francis that embodies what I described in 3) above, and every musical idea I've had that has excited me since then has been similar. /7

I've recently been Feeling A Way that I have kind of let *writing* music drop out of my life but I feel a desire to come back to it welling up within me, but whenever I've tried to write music in the last few years I've always felt like I'm trying to write someone else's music that I like /6

...that I can use the tool fluidly enough to capture the motion as it's unfolding. I can't do Sibelius that fast, nor do I have any DAW chops, but I can noodle at a piano and scribble notes and rhythms pretty well and I have good audiation skills. /5
