I co-ran a warming kit assembly and donation drive for our local shelter today and was so heartened by the way our community showed up. We had more donations than we had room in boxes to sort them into, including an absolutely stunning array of hand knit items from my local yarn shop folks.

This should alarm everyone.

On Thursday, Florida, by unanimous vote, became the first state in the country to adopt “The Phoenix Declaration: An American Vision for Education.”
It was written by the Heritage Foundation, the same group behind Project 2025.

When you are tempted to ask me what *I* am doing, the answer is in here.

Before ACA, I regularly had patients who bought insurance they thought was "best for them". I've seen $50k annual max, $500k lifetime max, plans w/ no Rx coverage, plans *carving out* cancer treatment, plans that denied leukemia treatment because prior iron deficiency anemia was a pre-existing. /1

A number of people equal to the population of Taiwan get their insurance from ACA exchanges.

The fallout from this week's "let them eat cake" capitulation will rock these families financially.

It's another brick in the wall of unaffordability and soaring costs.

I want to spell this out in case the implications aren't clear:

This means all public tools/webapps of GISAID data (all the ones you've been used to seeing thru the pandemic, as far as we can tell) are prohibited.

The file allowed this. Cut that - cut off all tools the public & others were using.
On Oct 1, 2025, GISAID informed us that they had ended updates to the flat file of SARS-CoV-2 genomic sequences and associated metadata that we had used to update Nextstrain analyses since Feb 2020. GISAID's stated rationale was that their "resources are limited". 1/5

What do you want to be true for students at the end of your course?

I continue to return to this document throughout the year to remind myself what the initial goals were and, of course, to see how they're going.

(Note: this is a document I share with students/families, too!)

The usual suspects are telling Dems that Epstein won’t win elections, get back to “affordability” and I think my head might explode. www.offmessage.net/p/force-a-re...

The neat thing about being innocent of a horrific crime—especially while you have complete control over the government—is you have zero hesitation to release the overwhelming files of evidence proving you’re 100% innocent.

Guilty people, however, do the exact opposite.
