When my daughter lived in NYC, I always tried to use the subway in & out of Manhattan to Brooklyn, etc. But the subways felt pretty safe back then, even late at night. But that was over 10 years ago now & I don't think the subway is as safe now. It would suck if the $9 is on top of bridge tolls.
