The point is: incredibly popular leagues (all major soccer ones) value the regular season over a playoff structure.
That they have relegation is irrelevant to this point.

See, I’m the exact opposite. Why does everything have to be homogeneously and loosely the same? Let’s celebrate the regular season like every top tier professional soccer league—which, not for nothing, is the most popular sport.

I think this thing is gonna get built. And then I think it’s gonna get retro fitted into much needed office space and we can all be a bit annoyed with the lack of symmetry but relatively fine with the usefulness.

I’m old school. I like the BCS era. If you want to make it 4 fine. I just can’t be too bothered about who has had the 9th or 10th best season even if it’s my team.

I’m not sure Texas would win a game if they made the playoffs.
I’m totally ok with them missing.
But, it is pretty complicated given that we’ve beaten 3 teams ahead of us. And, beaten a team that’s beaten a 4th team ahead of us.
And, in fairness, Florida did actually play very well against us.
