Awesome! I was talking about the boards -- the clamps look nice and sturdy. Great design. I've had issues with pine glued on edge cupping in the past, so I was curious if you've run into that. I've mostly switched over to making frame panels for doors/lids/etc to avoid cupping altogether.

I like your clamping system. Are you finding that the pine is cupping/bowing at all while you're gluing it together?

Reproductive success is undoubtedly important for any species. But IMHO, we need to have a broader view (and more investigation) into the roles that individuals play in communities. There's a LOT more to discover and unpack -- and current obsession with reproduction doesn't answer these questions.

It begs us to ask the question about the "value" of an individual. The focus on reproductive strategies -- individual or social -- does not explain a lot of the nuances of what has been observed (and, we lack a lot of data -- human cultural bias has skewed sexual diversity research). 🧵⬇️

However, there are a bunch of things that challenge these assumptions. Menopause is one of them. Homosexual behavior is another (the list goes on). And generally, we try to explain these "exceptions" in terms of social reproductive success (like the "gay uncle" and "grandmother" theories). But 🧵⬇️

I am definitely oversimplifying the issue, but ultimately, in biology, we're extremely obsessed with reproductive success. It's the framework of how we understand evolution. And that's why (perhaps unintentionally) we place high value on an individual's ability to reproduce and "fitness" 🧵⬇️
