It is interesting, though, how ammonoids were able to recover so fully after the Great Dying, unlike after K-Pg. The fossil record shows a sharp rebound in the Early Triassic. (1/3 🧵)

Ammonites surviving longer into the early Cenozoic makes sense. They were a massive, adaptable clade, it wouldn't be strange for some to scrape through the boundary event. They were a dead clade walking, because the whole ecological network changes after extinction. (1/5 🧵)
