Yeah that sounds not fun to keep up with, if there's no clever reason for it.
In my book the MC has visions, it goes from past tense in the normal parts to present tense in the visions. I wondered if it would get annoying or jarring, but I never could imagine mixing 1st and 3rd person.

I'm not sure... I would download it and see what happens with the comments in the document to compare with Word. I've used editing comments with it before.

Do you *need* Word? I have WPS office and it loads my manuscript fine, works with all the major document file types, and it's free.

Realistically if it never caught an agents eye, I would finish my other WIP and attempt to get that published instead, then try again with The Messenger.
But just getting any agent is rough and could take a year or more.

I'm sure it's just how much you're working. I can barely squeeze in a few pages a day, if that. And I'm trying to write a book, too.
