MSP for Glasgow Southside. Former First Minister of Scotland. Book lover.
Kind, compassionate and full of life. A politician who wore her heart on her sleeve and made the world a better place. She brought joy to everyone who knew her - especially to her soulmate, Keith, and her beloved boys, Lewis and Jack. Christina McKelvie MSP - I was so proud to call you my friend 💛

Being one of the original 1999 MSPs, serving (by the time of the election) for 27 years - half my life - and getting to represent the best constituency in Scotland has been an honour beyond words.
It is time, though, for me to embrace different opportunities in a new chapter of my life 💛

I particularly enjoyed this memory of the time I had the privilege of interviewing Ali at @edbookfest.bsky.social

In one of those random coincidences the universe sometimes serves up, having been unable to make Janey’s Edinburgh send-off, I found myself behind her hearse all the way back west. ‘You better no crash intae the back as me’ I could hear her say.
An honour to chum you home, pal. See you tomorrow 😢

Hello everyone. It’s a long time since I'd have tried anything as wholesome as a Saturday night book post on that other site. Let’s see what it’s like here…
Tonight’s read is the @thebookerprizes.bsky.social winner
