Just saw this film – absolutely brilliant! It truly captures the spirit of Rijeka.

And the subtitles – perfect!

Svaka čast kolegicama i kolegama!

There are some things not to do today on Saint Nicholas Day on the Julian Calendar...
19 December is Saint Nicholas Day!
It's a pretty big day in some Orthodox Christian parts of the Balkans – St Nicholas Day. But how come it's happening 13 days after the rest of the world? And what are you not supposed to do today?

One of the quirks of Macedonian:

Popular nicknames exist for major saint days, e.g. "Gjurgjovden" for St George's Day, "Mitrovden" for St Dimitrija's Day, etc., but not for St Nicholas' Day – it's always "Sveti Nikola". That's unlike in Serbian ("Nikoljdan") or Bulgarian ("Nikulden").

I do the same: I change my spelling to US forms when communicating with my US-based clients. Otherwise, my default is Australian English. Essentially there are no steadfast rules.
