Another legislative session ends, and what did #NewMexico do to radically increase housing supply?? Inaction in the face of a housing affordability crisis is pushing people to other states or turning them against Dems for not meeting the moment #nmleg

Pretty infuriating that the Chair of Senate Finance Committee killed a bill that would’ve paid legislators, because he’d be expected to do work…

Have the @DOGE folks made it to the part of the system yet that shows private Medicare Advantage plans get paid by the government 22% more than costs would be in traditional Medicare?

Paying our legislators would empower them to fight for what they promise. Many legislators don’t have time to dig into how our public money is spent, so they defer to an unelected budget office—whose agenda often conflicts with the public’s expectations. We have to pay for the democracy we deserve!
“This debate is not just about pay, it’s about shifting power to those closest to the issues, ensuring our Legislature reflects the people it serves. To build a stronger, more effective government that fosters new leadership across our state, we must modernize now.” 🔥

Director Chopra’s leadership should serve as a model for future state & federal consumer protection officials. Listen to impacted communities & advocates, exercise your full authority for the benefit of consumers, and prove that government can work.
“Director Chopra finalized rules to eliminate medical debt from credit reports and to reduce overdraft fees from $35 to $5, and the decision to fire Chopra raises the threat that President Trump will side with big banks that are pushing Congress to overturn those rules." www.nclc.org/chopra-firin...

Can someone please explain why political leaders are often so horrible at collaborating with others? Is it that hard to imagine that working well with others can actually help you succeed too?? (We sadly see this with New Mexico state/local leaders too…) #nmpol

This story is so sad but also very frustrating for what it says about our system. Sure would be nice if #Democrats adopted a platform of #termlimits. People in seats of power—esp those living in the bubble that comes w/ a 20+ year tenure—shouldn’t see their jobs as entitlements or lifetime positions
