Paying our legislators would empower them to fight for what they promise. Many legislators don’t have time to dig into how our public money is spent, so they defer to an unelected budget office—whose agenda often conflicts with the public’s expectations. We have to pay for the democracy we deserve!

Can someone please explain why political leaders are often so horrible at collaborating with others? Is it that hard to imagine that working well with others can actually help you succeed too?? (We sadly see this with New Mexico state/local leaders too…) #nmpol

This story is so sad but also very frustrating for what it says about our system. Sure would be nice if #Democrats adopted a platform of #termlimits. People in seats of power—esp those living in the bubble that comes w/ a 20+ year tenure—shouldn’t see their jobs as entitlements or lifetime positions
