When EA cancelled the Star Wars FPS project at Respawn, Vince fought like hell to save the project behind the scenes. When EA refused to budge, Vince made sure nobody got laid off and that everyone was able to find a home within EA.

This is so tragic

If you’ve never played MoH: Allied Assault, Titanfall 2, or even Call of Duty 4, give them a try. Zampella’s games punched above just being AAA shooter bombast, there’s a reason they’re some of the most acclaimed in the genre

1-star Amazon Review: book sucks none of these furries are small enough to climb inside the machinery at my factories

Many of these PC component manufacturers have also just been looking for an excuse to pivot more of their business to B2B anyway, consumer retail for this stuff has been tertiary to a lot of them for a long time

it’s a pretty viable strategy when equipment durability for martials becomes a bigger concern in the late game, I always thought that was kinda funny

anecdotally at least, a lot of people in 08 were grabbing a 360 with their severance payouts as like their one personal luxury thing before weathering unemployment

yeah i don’t think it was meaningfully intended in episode 7 at all but it’s a very obvious read that it made sense to run with after the fact (especially with the wave of prequel nostalgia that fired up a couple years later)

logically it’s kinda stupid and hard to justify but it’s also (probably unintentionally) the most interesting bit of prequel lip service in movies mostly embarrassed of them:

They brought back the toothless liberal status quo that failed to stop the empire and it all just happens again

they do but it’s actually in quebec city and they’ll ask you to move there instead apparently (I think they’re trying to get bites from people at the big mtl studios ie eidos/ubisoft with that listing and then pull the rug out)

it’s been nearly 20 years since the PS3 and 360 let you optionally fully install physical games to the hard drive, it’s been the enforced standard for over a decade since the PS4 and XB1, what the fuck is going on over there in nintendoland

a shame too, because one of those Finn b-plot beats (the reveal that the endless status quo of Star Wars is immensely profitable for the capitalist class, itself a commentary on the real world franchising of Star Wars) is the most important thing in that movie
December 18, 2025 at 5:18 PM
yea, I think TLJ is the best of the ST (by virtue of having any ideas at all) but Finn in that movie exists as a loose audience insert to have plot devices placed in front of him

to this day I’m baffled that 2E’s printed-in-the-text page number cross-references never caught on, not sure if it was Winter or Cook who came up with that idea but it was brilliant
