There has been a little more room made for patience—seeing F-Zero 99 being around for almost 2 years now, as well as the recent Switch 2 port of GX (despite how long that has taken), so it's clear, and acknowledged that they haven't completely forgotten, at least.

I think the core devs having their hands full, for the last 20+ years is a bit far fetched. Not 100% sure, but I think there were a couple of capable 3rd-parties more than willing to take on a new F-Zero project within that timeframe, and for few resources. GX's overdue port IS foul—I agree, fully.

I agree–PROVISIONALLY. Sure; there had been several cases of IP being fatigued, or outright destroyed by corporate greed/agendas, but particularly in the case of F-Zero, I'm certain there had been quite a few pitches being more than strong enough to work within the last 20+ dormant years...🤔
