Thanks for correcting me. I’m realizing that that abbreviation trivializes an identity that I take for granted and that is complicated for many people in countries oppressed and/or colonized by the mainland US. I am sorry for any hurt I caused and will strive to do better in the future.

I like it bc it’s fewer characters, but I agree it makes no sense and is a ridiculous to say. I didn’t realize people had such a visceral reaction against it.

Apologies! I didn’t mean to exclude the Caribbean.

As someone from the US, I use it to indicate people from the US rather than Central or South America. But yeah, lots of people use it pejoratively.

Awww, don’t be guilty! Although do know that while the Beyond series is classic romance plotwise along with the near future sci-fi elements, it has way more sex than these other ones, with more BDSM elements and poly relationships.

To wit: ugh, there goes Eloise again, harping on about the well-being of my children, why can’t she just shut up and fuck me.

Like. DUDE.

…I would not be sad about a total re-write, obviously, and changing the gender of her love interest is a good first step.

Ooooh I haven’t read those yet! I need to. The Beyond books would be awesome as a visual adaptation as well, and Nalini Singh’s Psy/Changeling ones.
