My assumption (with a little bit of anecdata to back it up, lol) is that these people are more or less constantly freaking out about the sheer scale of their inequalities and are fundamentally aware of how undeserving they are, and that the game will be up any moment. Not great for decision making.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you here, this is probably quite a popular, widespread viewpoint and a good way to live and to run a society.
It is not, however, anything like the sort of mindset required to become a billionaire in the first place, let alone an accelerating, r > g competitor.

As a simple and so far awkwardly-catch-all theory, because the MSM is owned by the sort of billionaires who prayed for Trump to win purely because it would reduce their tax rates, and who are still mainly concerned about that despite everything else.

I don't know, and expecting it from LCK, whose entire schtick was finding extremely LCD material that somehow worked for a few other denominators as well, seems very naive.

Okay, but also, previously NOT calling out fake news hasn't really stopped the current mob from aggressively trying to make it a thing. =/
What's stopping them isn't so much any kind of tradition, but just the fact that they're clearly lying when they say it's not true.

Like, it was just gonna be the Approval Office, just a guy with a big rubber stamp to confirm all the laws, but some letters fell off and things got a bit carried away after that.
