The Elves of Nordic/Celtic/Scandinavian/English Folklore & Myth.
Beautiful Folk of the Light, but mischievous and tricky like the traditional Fair Folk (only less malicious, but just as dangerous, when provoked). Some even had facial hair.

I guess the biggest low for me this year was the recent car crash I was in. I've never been so terrified. Fortunately, no one was completely hurt. But the car was beyond saving.

The Nequinum Gests, one of my WIPs, is strongly influenced by The Chronicles of Narnia; it hearkens back to classic fantasy, down to the religious-mythological tropes/parallels, yet with a modern, fresh, new take.

Hopefully the new books I ordered. That's my problem, I like to order/buy new books but almost haven't any time to read them. And its not just an ADHD thing. Sometimes I see a book, like it, want it, and got it for my shelf.

Krampus is wicked cool, no doubt about it, but he's a child-hating sadist. So, I'll have to stick with Santa.

The 7 protags (August, Barbara, Dan, Phoebe, Corri, Damian, & David) would have been on the naughty list pre-character development. But after reforming, they're on the nice list.
And like the Pevensies in Narnia, the Seven are given weapons by a Midwinter figure.

In Neony, the holiday "Midwinter" celebrates the winter solstice. Their Santa Claus figure is "Grandfather Frost", who offers gifts, food, & house blessings. There's mummering, almsgiving, wassailing, dancing, revelry, & feasting.

At the moment? My health, sanity (most of it), and being alive and well with my family. And of course, all my online followers and friends, especially on Bluesky.
They keep me steady and mindful, even in these dark, scary times.

Tbh, its not easy. I have trouble coming up with a good title that isn't a typical/cliche one. But sometimes I do give into the cliche. One of my WIPs is a Narnia-esque fantasy series, but I refuse use "Chronicles" in the title, preferring "Gests" (archaic for heroic deeds)

From my imagination, dreams, history, current events, and from the stories of past and present. And rarely from an epiphany.

Finding the right/accurate word to fit the description, narrative, scenery, characterization, etc. I die internally of shame when using the wrong word, or when I can't find the right word.

One of my Fav characters is Harris "Dash" Hardeen (a detective, illusionist, & escape artist). Brilliant, fun and witty, with a sad past (losing his wife and child). His archenemy is Doyle Leckie, a spiritualist cult leader & criminal mastermind.

Originally a plotter. Now I think I'm a plantser. I like to organically think and grow my world and story as time goes by.

In my room, where I feel more calm and collected. Not to mention my room is cozy and has almost everything I need. It also gives me more privacy. I just have to remember not sit for too long or else I get numb 😏😆

Good advice: think of your characters as people first, regardless of their identity. And don't worry if your story has already been told. All stories share the same bones, you just give it different flesh.

I love reading & writing fantasy. But I have ambition to be a multi-genre writer. I don't always like sticking to one genre.
