I mean on civil rights is was obviously correct -- nobody in between your employer/child's teacher and the federal courthouse was going to do anything for you.

But I think there's enough supervision (and on the environment) now that it's unneeded.

I think "the best we can do is empower stakeholders to sue in federal court" was a non-crazy view in 1965 or even 1970! Less clear now.

That's probably correct on all fronts.

Yep, it's a grim tradeoff now between better policy (homes should be more affordable) and politics (people hate it when their home value declines)

I would say "ah, but what about Boris Johnson" but uhhh ...

Yeah, fair point. I guess if it ends in "Rush Hour 4" it's definitely comedy.

I mean things are more rickety than they were but it hasn't really collapsed.

Frustratingly it seems like they are trying to build power close to the datacenter, rather than improve the grid.

Also I think utility-scale battery improvements are lowering the urgency on the grid (again, frustratingly)

True but they also like stuff being cheaper, seems tough.

It is the choice that makes the exercise meaningful. Two turkeys: one lives and one dies. It's a primal exercise.

At this point the centrist compromise would be to RETVRN to pardoning one turkey and serving the other.

Stuff like this is happening in any instructional domain: tech tips and videos, video gaming walkthroughs, *math brainteasers*, etc. You can't earn a premium by making something durable and high quality, you get crowded out by slop.

It sucks!

NEW: AI “recipe slop” is overrunning search and social. Food creators say Google’s AI Overviews and glossy fake food pics are drowning out real, tested recipes — collapsing traffic and setting home cooks up for disaster, especially this Thanksgiving.

Spicy take here would be "you do this by letting George Lucas direct one of the movies"
