As Attorney General, I will return the office to its purpose:

✅ Defending the civil, political, and human rights of ALL Texans
✅ Protecting consumers from scams and making markets competitive
✅ Enforcing environmental laws and holding polluters accountable
✅ Rooting out corruption

The power of the Attorney General’s office has been abused to benefit the wealthy and well-connected.

Instead of protecting Texans, the OAG has wasted time and resources with bogus attacks on political opponents and culture wars.

Texans are paying the price of this abuse of power.

In 2018, I flipped Texas Senate District 16 — a seat Republicans held for over 30 years. By 8 points.

Since then, I’ve passed over 130 bills, leading on access to health insurance, child health, consumer protection, grid security, government transparency, and basic fairness in the law.

Before elected office, I spent decades as an attorney, a small business owner, and problem-solver.

I worked with people at their best and their worst.

That taught me something simple: the law should be a force for stability, clarity, and fairness — not chaos and not greed.

I didn’t come to public service the traditional way.

I grew up the son of a VA psychologist and a social worker — two people who spent their lives helping veterans and families in crisis.

Watching them, I learned that service is not a slogan, it’s a calling.

From running the HEROES project for veterans and military families, to expanding access to help and ensuring justice in veteran treatment courts, to upholding veteran rights in lending, employment, and leave programs, I’ll make sure Texas keeps its promises to those who served.

Texas is home to more than 1.4 million veterans. As Attorney General, I will ensure they receive the respect and services they deserve.

The discussion spotlighted the work happening at the state level to support and strengthen our growing Dallas region.

Thank you to the Oak Cliff Chamber for convening this summit, and to JBJ Management for sponsoring. #TXLege #SD16
