I live in Cyprus. It’s definitely true that skilled migrants are treated differently to unskilled ones. But policies to attract the former have also backfired because they have significantly increased housing costs.

But the real challenge is how to make unskilled (yet necessary) migrants popular?

Can you give us an example of how a government can demonstrably manage immigration in the local population’s interests?
