A nice garden visitor this morning. Pics taken through kitchen window. Our 3rd record since moving here 18 years ago. Not so sure our newts were too impressed...there are a couple less now 😱😆 @harbourbirds.bsky.social @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social #Dorsetbirds

Our colour ringing season at Lytchett Bay is off to a great start with 5 Water Pipit & 5 Rock Pipit marked (under license) already. Please look out for yellow (Water) and white (Rock) marked birds and report all sightings 🙏 #Dorsetbirds

Surprisingly decent morning on Lytchett patch in continuing unhelpful weather. 5 Goosander were first of the year. Bar Wit, Green Woodpecker and Bullfinch all notable. CR head starter Curlew and Wigeon up to 530 (in the 90's they were almost a rarity here!) @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social #Dorsetbirds

Just when I thought I was going end my 9th autumn week on Holy Island without an island tick.....this occasional visitor came to the rescue. Well actually eleven of them 😆 As said, they all count.
October 10, 2025 at 5:58 PM
We have reached Holy Island. It's still westerly and forecast to remain that way. 🥲 At least the sky is interesting 🤣 Actually the birds weren't too bad. Accrued 73 species on various wanders on foot from the digs. Whoopers in off the sea probably the best among them.

After 2 weeks birding Northumberland & North Ron I have finally laid eyes on a rarity! Marsh Sand still at Musselburgh 😁 Good to have dinner with @birdingvet.bsky.social & thanks for directions 👍

The last leg of our Ecuadorian adventure has brought us to the Amazon. Our good fortune continues with Giant Otters, 8m Anaconda and brilliant birds Inc Agami & Zigzag Herons, Great Potoo's, Crested Owls and more. 😁

Spectacled Bear. Spent just short of two hours watching this wonderful creature ripping bromeliad's apart for its breakfast in the Andes this morning. 😍 Whilst we had dreamt, we didn't dare believe 😁😁

Currently making our way through the Ecuadorian Andes. Well trodden trail but great to see so many ex-farmers turning their pastured holdings to reforesting, nature and birds and changing their lives through small scale tourism. As many will know the birding is splendid.

Brilliant day on Espanola, Galapagos today. Finally made it after 5 years of waiting. Does anyone with more experience concur that the Booby looks like a Cocos? A rarity here.

You know when you miss the chance to see a band, at the time it doesn't feel significant. Then you develop a craving to see them but it just doesn't happen. Then..... eventually.... well that's us and #Waxahatchee Absolutely brilliant in Bristol tonight. 👏👏👏

Enjoyed my own little bit of this spring's Red-footed Falcon migration, albeit on the north coast of Crete. Always special birds. More fun with the Nikon P950

Surveying Bearded Tits on local patch today & surprised to find 5+ ♂️ sitting very close together in one location. Birds would then fly off in a variety of directions before returning to same area. No food carrying noted. Could it be that ♀️ on eggs & ♂️ without purpose socialising? Any other thoughts?

Just a quick thank you to #SwarovskiUK The on going failure of their armour coating is frustrating. However at least their repairs are quick and free. End to end time for me was 17 days. Also needed new eye cup. Delivery time 3 days. 🙏

3 days into Georgia trip & the weather has hardly been kind. Still we have enjoyed the Caucases. Plenty of Guldenstadts Redstarts, nice no's & views of Grouse, worked hard for Snowcock and were eventually rewarded but where are the Rosefinches? Tx @wildphotos1.bsky.social for Reds't pic.

Having moved further south we went whale watching in the Gulf of Thailand, "did" the waders and spent 4 fab days at Kaeng Krachen staying for the first time at the wonderful Baan Maka. Tbh it's worth coming to Thailand just to visit KK. It was our third visit and 4 days were nowhere near enough.
