Rocket J. Squirrel has kept every stray cat out of the backyard...

...until today. Saw him and another cat just sitting on the ground, loaf-shaped, facing each other and giving each other slow blinks. I think we just acquired another cat...

Clearest explainer I’ve found of what’s been happening on the court case related to the Judge Boasberg contempt legal tangle, and the latest status, highlighted by the claim that Noem metaphorically dragged a court order out to a gravel pit... www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMcD...

@zohrankmamdani.bsky.social ’s win reminds me of the time we heard Gus Newport (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gus_New...) speak about being Berkeley mayor. He said he was a socialist but he still had to meet payroll.

Wishing you good fortune with job ahead, Mayor-elect Mamdani!

71.5% of ICE detainees have no criminal convictions, according to government data.

Don’t fall for Trump’s lies about targeting the “worst of the worst.”

As Trump's regime terrorizes communities to fill up detention centers, remember that some of his biggest donors are private prison corporations.

Speaker Johnson: Federal employees aren’t being paid. Nutrition cuts may cause children to go hungry. Millions are seeing their health premiums soar.

End the 6 week paid vacation you’ve taken. Join your Democratic colleagues and negotiate an end to this shutdown.

San Francisco peeps: Seal Rock Inn Restaurant reopened in January. We finally got over there for breakfast. The menu is shorter, very Vietnamese-French influenced and quite delicious! Mains are on average $22, but so, so yummy! Can’t wait to go back and try a Cuban. sealrockinn.com/restaurant/

The average US taxpayer spends $36 a year on SNAP

You know what they spend on corporate subsidies? $670

Poor and disabled people who need food are not the problem

If you’re angry about “your money” feeding people but not angry it’s giving tax cuts to the wealthy?

You’re doing their dirty work.

Adelita Grijalva now holds the record for longest delay between winng a special Congressional election and being sworn into office.

Why the delay from Mike Johnson?

Perhaps it's because Grijalva would cast the final vote needed to release the Epstein files.

I feel like, once we get the ship of state to stop listing so dangerously to the right, we might want to work on lifting 1 out of 10 (ish?) Americans out of poverty. Remember when we lifted out of poverty half of the children in it, just with a little money during the pandemic?
More than 47 million Americans — including one in five children — don’t have reliable, affordable access to nutritious food. And as the cost of living skyrockets, more families are depending on SNAP benefits, or food stamps, to put food on the table.
