The sinking of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald on the Great Lakes was November 10, 1975, but in my minds eye it seems so much longer ago. Thankful for the maritime technology advances in weather forecasting, ship design, and vessel monitoring since that tragedy.

Shout out to Canada Post! My elderly mother lives on the opposite side of the country (6000km) from me and receives her mail in a rural community box. The postal worker noticed she hadn’t picked the mail up for a while so decided to do a personal welfare check. Going above and beyond! All is well.

The victims’ announcement today was interrupted by the noise of a jet flyover. What is laughable is someone with military authority was presented with the idea and thought “that’s a good plan.” They then decided “Make it so.” How pathetic.

Surrounded so long by apartheid, torn by politics, invaded by Nelson Mandela’s South Africa, hammered by AIDS, devastated by drought Lesotho knows how to survive.

But this latest blow is because they provide dirt cheap clothes to Americans.

How dare they.
