🚨🚨 Mutebot is shutting down 🚨🚨
Just incase anyone is still using this enough to notice, Mutebot is shutting down.
This feed existed to give some basic muting, but now we have that as a first party feature so it's not really needed.
I haven't been hacking on this for a while so it's time.

New experimental feature on the Beta Feed:
Limit the number of retweets from any given person that are shown.
The idea of this is that when someone is retweeting a whole thread or a bunch of replies they don't drown out other things in the feed.

Bluesky now supports muting words.
So probably there's no real reason to keep using mutebot.
I'll continue to operate, at least for now, but really I'd recommend you use the actual app feature now if you can.

You can now mute retweets from specific accounts for the mutebot feed.
Have that friend who's just a bit too focused on something that doesn't interest you, mute their retweets for a while.

Mutebot has been updated so that the site for muting and unmuting words mutebot.orthanc.co.nz will now work well on mobile and spotty connections.

Mutebot is a custom feed that is basically the same as your following feed except that you can mute words you don't want to see.
I can't mute words on other feeds, pin the feed and use it instead of the built in following feed.

If a muted word appears in any of the following places the post will be muted
1. Post text
2. Image Alt Text
3. Summary card for a website link
4. 1,2,3 of the post being replied to (if a reply)
5. 1,2,3 of the post being quoted (if a quote post)

Mutebot feed hasn't been working today.
The short version is that it wasn't keeping up with the Bluesky traffic so was only getting old posts.
Should be fixed now for posts from now on but there will be a gap in the feed for the past 18 hours

It's now possible to see what words you have muted, and to mute and unmute without @ ing this bot. This allows you to keep your mute words private.
1) Go to mutebot.orthanc.co.nz
2) Click Login
3) Send the bleet it gives you to prove you're you

It looks like Mutebot doesn't have any more bleets for you. If you've only just started using the feed Mutebot may not have many bleets for you yet, but it'll be listening out for all the people you follow now. Check back soon.

If you can see this post in the Mutebot feed it means Mutebot is just working out who you follow to populate the feed.
Refresh the feed in a minute and you should see posts by the people you follow.

So um, attempt number 2 got a bit out of control, mutebot isn't following anyone else right now. So unless you were one of the early few the feed won't work.

Hmm, the rate limit for adding people to lists is 30 every 5 minutes: 180 per hour.
As far as I can tell the rate limit for following people is 5000 per hour.
So new plan, mutebot follows everyone followed by anyone using mutebot. Then mutebots home timeline is the source 🤣
