I think it was a woman - and most definitely because she'd brought her decades of listening pleasure. Paul Temple would have been insufferable were it not for Westbury's cool, calm voice.

Somewhere in the back of my head, I seem to recall that she also got a second bequest (though my brain is no longer reliable).

I'm pretty sure she met with at least one of the legators in an attempt to change their minds. It only made them more determined.

Marjorie Westbury played the iconic radio version of Steve, a tall sophisticated woman with a silken voice, married to Paul.

In reality Ms Westbury looked like this. A listener fell in love with her voice and left her a sizable legacy, which embarrassed Ms Westbury in the extreme.
