I wanted a tree for the front yard that would be pretty in the fall so we shopped for one at nurseries in October, 5 years ago. This is the beauty she adds to our driveway.

The Four False Weapons, published 1937, is another amusing period novel said to be the best of the series. It took a while to catch the gist but then it moves along.

When Aster Frikartii stops blooming in the fall, the remaining flowers dry and become little white pompoms. Butterflies love the blooming flowers and then birds enjoy them.🐦‍⬛🦋

My walk along the river yesterday - 80°F and sunny. Volunteers constructed a primitive trail that's somewhat challenging and perfect for cleaning the mental cobwebs. 🌞🍂🚶‍♀️

I went to a riverfront path. Thanks again for the impetus to get outside someplace else. (We have a demanding large yard.)

Ripe figs are still out there to be harvested after the 28°F night we had this week. The shrubs' leaves are withered and browning but the figs keep coming. Nature persists no matter what.🍂🏆

A 20°F temperature is predicted for tonight so I harvested the Thyme to use in cooking over the winter. I have no idea how to process and store it but I couldn't leave it out in the garden to die.
