Can we also PLEASE talk about the failures of the charity— sorry, "non-profit"— model of disability? There aren't too many orgs which especially multiply marginalized disabled ppl trust to represent them, & this would be a PERFECT example of why. This org reps me at the UN.🙃

I just want access to the #CanadaDisabilityBenefit b/c I'm struggling on disability esp. w/CPP clawbacks, and I basically got scammed. A LOT of work went into exposing this. This work derailed a lot of things in my life if anyone kindly wants to help.

I contacted Inclusion Canada repeatedly with my concerns and was told in writing that they didn't vet the company I was recommended. And despite detailing my concerns about how others might be harmed, none of their solutions which were offered to me included warning other people.

Despite receiving HUGE amounts of govt. funding to provide these services, these benefits navigators seem to have omitted looking into the CUSTOMER (why are we paying at all?) experiences their clients had. All of these orgs may be doing the same thing:

A debt of gratitude owed to @anhedoniaoakley.bsky.social for bringing this issue to public attention.

There are so many bad decisions made by the federal govt around Canadian Disability Benefit and they keep compounding rather than solving them.

If you follow me on the other place you are familiar with some of what I've gone through recently using wheelchair taxis. Some asked why I didn't use transit or HandyDart, I decided to answer that question.

Is HandyDart Accessible? It Depends.
If wheelchair taxis aren't accessible then why not use regular public transit or Handydart?

I can't be certain based purely on this photo but it appears to me that what is really bad here is that there is a ramp leading to a platform where there is no space for a wheelchair user to sit. They do this then blame accessibility as one of the reasons for this ugly lump of painted concrete.

Do we as a society withhold medical care during the palliative stage of life? Care that is recommended by their physicians, makes them more comfortable, and prevents complications? I didn't think we did. This is the exact opposite of what palliative care is about.
