I think it always struck a chord with me as we had a grandma in Ireland who I'd only met once when little, and I could imagine her spinning, although she probably never did.

But however many I have to do, it seems like a fraction of the ones I used to do for my dad after he was widowed, or similar later that we did for my mother in law. I sort of go into autopilot. Love choosing presents, hate writing and addressing cards.
