We had a blackbird nest fall out of a tree about 18 days ago. Two fledglings survived & mum & dad have continued to care for them, while they fully fledge and grow tail feathers.
Here’s Mr Blackbird with a mouthful of bird cake, just about to feed baby. They are pretty much the same size now. 🦉🇳🇿

Absolutely. There were half a dozen within 15 kms:, a cooperative store and cafe/restaurant. A beautiful place to be. But not without its fractures.

Hippie community games. 1986. Three legged race, sack race, egg and spoon race, obstacle course etc. a heavenly childhood for our kids. Two of my three are bottom left. They are in their 40s now. Mahana Community, Coromandel. 🇳🇿♥️

I got a new cast on last week. It’s scratchy but so much lighter than the old plaster one. I go back on Tuesday to get the wound checked again.
Last night I went to sleep late but easily. I woke up nine hours later with no cast. It was tucked under my pillow. Spooky sleepwalking shit again 😳🤯🇳🇿

That looks like a paradise shelduck (Pūtangitangi). They grow like weeds. That looks a day or two old.
The ones in the photo are Indian Runner Ducks. Maybe 5-7 days old. They reach adult size in 3-4 weeks. Lovely pets. This is mum and dad. 🪶

Spent half of today back at hospital getting my cast fixed, so I don’t get gangrene in my hand because it’s so swollen. By golly it hurts. Surgery is on Thursday. It’s pretty damned difficult to suddenly only have one hand. 🇳🇿

I broke my wrist. Really badly. Am currently wallowing in morphine at Auckland City Hospital (awesome treatment) waiting to see the orthopaedic surgeons. 😭😭😭
