@faiz.bsky.social just described a tension that sometimes exists in my family. My brother and I are professors. Another brother and our dad are electricians. We're all intelligent so don't look down on each other. But having the summers off while my brother works nights may stir some hard feelings.

I participated in a reading of writers from the African diaspora on Juneteenth, and it was the warmest, most inviting gathering of exceptional black talent that I've been involved in, in a while.
