Thanks for the candid answer. Goes without saying that it’s harder to take this FO seriously on development when they are producing a team this bad and don’t seem to understand what they have in the building.

I am fairly certain this team would be better now, better for next season, and still well in the lotto if we had him. Just maybe not the worst team of all time that considers losing by single digits a victory.

Hey Varun, off topic, but it kinda burns me up to see Deni blossom into an awesome 2-way player on a fantastic contract and I’m curious if mgmt has commented on it. It looks like they blew it.

But it should have. They won ~200 games the previous two seasons and all of their young players got raises.

I can accept making mistakes on the pitching decisions in the course of an off-season, even in a results-based world. But if all of these young hitters have simply stopped hitting, that means he really didn't build anything sustainable after all.

Yeah, who knows, but it sure feels like they need an adult in the room. Melvin qualifies. More than happy to have Flash on the staff, but given the headspace this team was in all year "grizzled veteran" actually feels appropriate.

What’s the definition of success this season other than keeping the first round pick? That seems like all they care about, even if it harms the development of the young players they have already drafted (unless you think losing by 30 every night is good for development)

When you are that slow and you hit 600+ doubles, that’s probably lots of slides into second!
