I'm torn because a remake would be awesome, but also a remake would probably have to redo the iconic character portraits or deal with some very litigious estates over likeness issues.

For me, it's partly because "Rise of the..." is a now-shopworn attempt at adding gravitas to either introducing a new character or doing some sort of prequel. It's also annoying because it's a reminder that you're about to watch a part in what is or the studio hopes to be an eleventy-part series.

Before they went all in on MAGA, the Babylon Bee had a semi-respectable niche doing Onion-style "Church do be like that" parody articles. It's certainly been a lot more successful than their previous venture, doing Christian comics in the style of The Oatmeal.
