I was whole word taught but my daughter is being taught phonics.
I would hate the articles method. Phonics is weird but she seems to be picking things up quite quickly.

I had someone in there mocks today estimating the mean from a table by multiplying the frequency by the mid point...

Then add it to the frequency?!?!
Get that addition wrong anyway (on a calculator paper)
Then divide it by 2...

I suppose this would make it fair, if it was published centrally as well. But that would require the exam boards to be able to do something useful which given their formula sheets I am not confident they can...

Our school does top 2 sets doing triple and the rest doing combined. Could that be a reason fewer kids who do combined go on to stem subjects?

Hate Halloween. The fact I ha e to have my lights off in the front of my house less the feral kids.off the estate decend.
Even that doesnt work just had 2 kids on the door cam being like "I prefer it when they have lights and spooky stuff up so you dont have to knock and wait..." like wtf...

Here are the two ways I show them after introing it with the triangles. I use the left hand because they are generally writing with their right and if you put it thumb up then tan because sqrt(fingers above ÷ fingers beneath)

It baffles me that school allow parents to come watch a sports day the safeguarding is terrifying.
The consultation with lawyers is becoming more and more prevalent our school does it more and more because they're terrified parents will kick off about something.

Have you tried putting some semolina flour on the bottom before baking. I have done this with pizzas before.

Set 3 and 4 do A and B with similar for set 4 not covering as in much depth/breadth
Set 5 do Pre A and A.
Allows us to see patterns etc with the shared content of the set above or below whilst meaning they dont get tested on what they dont know.
