Today we did some modelling using trig.
We modelled Peppas journey on my daughters ferris wheel.
Always good to have some props on hand...
We decided to ignore that fact that carriages always dangle vertically. We modelled the pin they dangle on instead.

1. Why on earth would you take part in this as a teacher? Like career wise this is potential suicide.
2. Why on earth would you agree to have your child's face in it? I feel parents need there heads wobbling.

Y12 proved some trig identities using sin/cos and sin^2 + cos^2
Y11 did instantaneous rates of change
Y8 did very little to be honest. Tough class, behaviour and LPA makes it a challenge.

We had a sermon about the incarnation of God. 100% man 100% devine. 200% jesus "The mystery of godliness". There was more to it but alot went over my head after the percentages analogy...

Year 8 bottom set looked at adding and subtracting fractions using shading. Some great work by them p1, less so p5 (split double).
Year 12s started solving trig equations. By drawing graphs, no CAST diagrams here please... use it yourselves if you wish though...

Y13 looked at radians, derived the arc and area of a sector formula from prior knowledge of GCSE formulae. Then we sketched the inverse trig functions discussing the difference between sin-¹(x) and and(sin(x))-¹ . Then introduced arcsin etc to avoid confusion.

Diving into GCSE results across the country, for the first time, the link between outcomes and wealth was really driven home to me. My thoughts are here, please let me know yours.

Does anyone want 2 adult and 1 child ticket to see the cbeebies at the proms in the royal Albert Hall.
I've broken my arm and can no longer drive is there so we won't be going.
