Started the pickle process and have the brine going. My whole spice collection pays off! Why yes, I DO have juniper berries and star anise and whole nutmegs!

Pickled Beef Tongue
Pickled Beef Tongue is kind of like a cross between smoked ham and corned beef. Melt-in-your-mouth tender and deliciously tasty. Definitely worth trying!

I decided to pickle the tongue! I do love a good brining recipe, so I will be back in two weeks or so to let you know how it goes!

Mabel Normand and Charlie Chaplin brawl in MABEL'S BUSY DAY (1914). Normand directed this frenetic comedy and clearly has a ball mixing it up with the boys.

I’ve been very into extremely limited palettes and triads lately, so I got a swatching stamp. Going to have fun with this!

THE BLOOD SHIP (1927), which I have been wanting to see for more than a decade and it lived up to the hype! The hype, of course, being a bloody and decadent seafaring revenge tale.

This week's reader request was SURE-MIKE (1925), a Hal Roach comedy starring Martha Sleeper. I love Sleeper in her supporting roles with Charley Chase and was excited to see her as the solo star. Reviews were ecstatic and even called her the new Mabel Normand

I remain baffled by the ongoing popularity of jelly gouache. They now sell additional doodads to mix it after it inevitably hardens and kill the mold that inevitably grows. If only there was some invention like a "jar" or "tube" to store such paint or dry pans to avoid these issues entirely.

Okay, multigrain bread is outrageously expensive and I have a bread machine, so i am giving it a shot for the first time. I didn't before because I didn't want 25 little bags of quickly perishable whole grains sitting around but this recipe suggested using a hot cereal:
