Ingredients include a boxed orange cake mix, orange juice, dried cranberries, chopped pecans, butter, dash of vanilla and a dollop of Greek yogurt, then iced with a lemon glaze. Haven't made a coffee cake in YONKS - turned out pretty great. Also, misjudged the bake time on the buns - could have used another 5 min. Toasting takes care of that.

Just finished making A Thing. From the Wild Oleander Hooded Scarf pattern on Ravelry (www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib...), using Sirdar's Jewelspun yarn in the Quartz colorway. Soft & snuggly. 🧶

The pattern, #loveyourselfmandala, is from Louisa Sheward (available for purchase on Ravelry); the three colors used are all size #1 Rainbow 8/4 100% cotton yarn from Hobbii. Turned out bigger than I thought it would, being about 7.5" across at its widest point.

I went to Yarn Harbor in Duluth, where many treasures were found - like this skein of Berroco Ultra Alpaca (Tiger Eye Mix). All it took was one skein, & using my favorite Clover Amour hook, I had this hat - a sort of granny circle beret - done in a day. 🧶

I wanted the tie to have a distinctive appearance, so Tunisian crochet was the perfect choice. The sock yarn used is from Cascade Yarns, specifically Heritage Paints - a hand painted sock yarn colorway called "Thunder." It had been in my stash for years. Closeup image of the Tunisian crochet texture, and the tie pin. I made it from the medallion that was on the gear shift knob from the car I liked best to drive - a 1982 red Toyota Corona (I called it The Tomato). I really loved that manual transmission. Anyway. I had this originally made as a lapel pin (sterling silver backing), but I converted it to a tie pin for my grandson, to celebrate his growing skills as a driver. Image of a small gift box wrapped in white butcher paper and tied with a reddish brown nylon ribbon. Instead of tying things up with a bow, I opted for a half-Windsor knot.
