The only sagas I knew in Brawl were Sonic, Pokémon, Star Fox, Mario and his relative sagas (except for Wario Ware). I wanted to start the saga with Twilight Princess, but I wasn't enjoying it. Many years passed before I became interested in finishing a Zelda game, this time being A Link to the Past.
Who out there learned about The Legend of Zelda series because of Super Smash Bros.?

I have a similar story. I discovered the franchise through Stadium 1 & 2, the cards, Smash Bros and the anime during the Unova seasons. I don't consider myself a fan because I've only enjoyed the Poké Park games, but I plan to play other spin-offs instead of the main ones (maybe the Legends ones).
I’m in a very weird position with Pokémon where all of my nostalgia for it is based on everything BUT the games. I had Pokémon toys, watched the anime, ate Pokémon Pop Tarts, etc., but never played the games growing up.
I can’t think of any other game franchise that I have this relationship with.

The saddest part is that Pauline's hometown isn't even an original Odyssey location, making it the main Mario entry with the fewest homages in later games.
