Knee-deep in the localisation of an update to Procreate Dreams, and let me tell you: an ‘AI’ tool wouldn’t even know where to begin with this.

This is really well put.

Okay, I’ve been staring at the empty white space of a New Document in iA Writer enough. I don’t think this is the day I’m going to update my blog.

It’s not that I lack ideas for articles. It’s that every tech topic coming to mind quickly devolves into a rant.

You can help make the ‘AI’ industry fail by not believing any of the claims they spread.

Whenever you see certain claims, especially if they sound too good to be true (or too exaggerated to be true), assume that such claims are, in fact, not true.

After much pondering, I’ve realised that the only way to get out of this creative rut regarding my fiction work, is to start writing something new, and something that hopefully doesn’t get sucked in a vortex of world-building.

In the dream, I was having a conversation with a writer in a restaurant whose backgrounds looked ‘AI’-generated.

When you realise you don’t have much to say or share, and you wonder whether it’s a glass-half-full or glass-half-empty situation/feeling.

From a recent conversation: “‘AI’ is a handy information recycler, but the only thing it has actually created are AI hypers.”

In the past, whenever I hadn’t updated my blog in a while, I used to peruse my RSS feeds and often find inspiration to post something.

Lately, perusing my feeds is actually pushing me in the opposite direction — silence.

It was known internally as “ChatGPT Atlas Shrugged” but the company felt it was a bit too on-the-nose.

My 2012 AirPort Expresses retain a more consistent AirPlay 2 connection without the music cutting out than my 2 HomePods from 2021 still getting software updates. Make it make sense.

You know what’s the operating system that really brings more focus to content without sacrificing good UI?

Spotify has been criticised for so many things in recent times.

I, as a premium subscriber since late 2010, am simply baffled that after 15 years I still can’t see the list of musicians playing on any given album.

In this album Brad Mehldau isn’t the only performer.

I love rain. After months of hot temperatures and sunny days, I was glad it mostly rained for the past week or so. I don’t even mind spending time indoors, usually. But somehow this time I couldn’t focus and couldn’t read or write much. Mood was mostly melancholic for no real reason.

If you are into electronic music and modular synths, you should check out Hélène Vogelsinger’s music: www.youtube.com/@HeleneVogel...

Her ongoing series, “Forgotten Futures”, is just mesmerising.

I’ve started noticing that one every two/three ads on YouTube is now about ‘AI’. Pushing a product or service, telling viewers stuff like “It’s important to know AI for your job” etc. Goodness, the industry is really getting desperate.

I keep reporting these ads as spam. *smirk*

Maybe my favourite, concise review of the iPhone Air from a big YouTuber. Dave is always very practical and honest in pointing out certain things:

Gotta love the very believable email notification from APP1E.COM that my “i-cloud” account is blocked and that I have to click here to magically reactivate it.

(Message sent to my iCloud email, by the way, how’s that possible!?! 😄)

YouTube always thanks me for leaving feedback that makes “the YouTube experience better”.

Do you know what would make YouTube's experience better? Not taking down creators’ videos by mistake (thanks to stupid moderation bots) and doubling down on your wrong decision

I ‘love’ this security recommendation from Google. They ask a yes/no question, but the only option I can select is ‘Remove’. If I want to keep things as they are, I have to ignore this. If I do so, a badge with a '!' sign remains placed near my account avatar, and it’s annoying, and Google knows it.
