This fight is bigger than Texas A&M—it is about whether public universities will serve democracy or fear it.

Anyone have a link to an online version of this textbook?
How can anyone now take these universities seriously? I have empathy for my colleagues trying to do their jobs under these circumstances. The state shows such disdain for its students as it thinks they can’t handle a real education.
“the state-approved version doesn’t include chapters on media and technology, global inequality, race and ethnicity, social stratification, or gender, sex and sexuality.” State. Approved.

The Board of Evil will take a piece of this country, a piece of that country. To avoid all this “peace” countries will have to pay him $1 billion but that only buys 3 years
President Trump’s “Board of Peace,” originally conceived to oversee the rebuilding of Gaza, is now billing itself as an international peacekeeping body. Trump is inviting countries to join beyond a three-year term if they cough up more than $1 billion, according to a draft of the board's charter.
$1 Billion in Cash Buys a Permanent Seat on Trump’s ‘Board of Peace’
The board was originally conceived to oversee the rebuilding of Gaza, but its charter does not mention the Palestinian enclave, suggesting a possibly broader mandate.

I'm really proud of this academic freedom syllabus language that the @aaup.org CDAF fellows developed. Having language like this opens up an opportunity to talk with your students about what academic freedom is (and is not). If you add it to your syllabus this semester let me know how it goes!
The Center for Academic Freedom has developed some recommendations and language around academic freedom that you can make part of your semester syllabus. Check out this post by CDAF director @isaackamola.bsky.social for details and links. open.substack.com/pub/academic...

I don’t disagree that Ben Shapiro is trying to kick Carlson out. But I still think the analogy here is fights between White Citizen’s Councils and the Klan. On most points, these folks agree. But the establishment prefers their bigotry thinly veiled and this is harder to maintain in the Trump era.
Ben Shapiro is outright trying to kick Tucker Carlson out of the conservative movement in this video. The right's civil war is truly here www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaRJ...

This from the head of a “think tank”
they all write/talk like this now and it feels like a new genre: hate smut; manic, agitated vitriol that reads like it was written while feverishly masturbating to revenge fantasies
it's utterly wild how the Heritage Foundation president talks about other people

if you found a guy talking like this outside, you'd probably call the cops

TFG admits he’s taking away freedom of speech … you know, that thing he boasted about bringing back.
"We took the freedom of speech away..." needs to be blasted across the nation.
Trump: "We took the freedom of speech away because that's been through the courts and the courts said you have freedom of speech, but what has happened is when they burn a flag it agitates and irritates crowds."
