I don't think it's insane or anything but it does feel a bit conciliatory in a way that feels weird from Labour

I think it reflects how a lot of 60s Labour leadership benefited heavily from the kind of upward mobility they wanted to share, verses those that came after who felt deep insecurity for their upwards mobility

This is why it's so irritating to see people treat Lords reform as some woolly abstract issue that needn't be prioritised - it's concretely degraded manifesto legislation to protect its own vested interest!

I saw it as part of a small festival that also played about an hour of short movies made by refugees in the UK and elsewhere and I'm glad I did, was like lightning from a cloud

There's this movie called Limbo, about a group of four refugees who are placed into a shared accommodation in the Hebridies, and I think about that movie a lot

They can't use buses, they can't take taxis, they can't have jobs, they can't have houses, and in about six months there will be another uproar about how many refugees are in hospital due to preventable illness
