Nobody talks about the best reason for us to tax billionaires: purely so they have less money. That alone is an impactful project in the public interest. Just setting it on fire would save people's lives and reform governments by itself.
My big, messy US politics prediction for 2026 is a push for a great firewall. It aligns with how Trump thinks, and he's got big tech and media with him. Will it work? Who knows. But I think he'll try it.

I'm starting to think the inheritance tax should be 100% over a million dollars. We are drowning in born-on-third-base clowns destroying the world.

I started Wuchang: Fallen Feathers again and that was very much the right call. This truly is my favorite Souls-like. I am dangerously competent at it. I'm like, "Is this what being a fan of Dark Souls is like?" #blutoid

Post a game you remember playing but nobody else remembers.
Team Buddies on PS1. It was a small single-player strategy game about collecting blocks for your base and stacking them into the units based on the stack shapes and block color. #blutoid

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the thing to know about trans kids in sports is that children's sports is not about winning games, but making friends, learning teamwork, and getting to know your community. Allowing or denying community to these kids is the actual conflict.

This admin managed to take people who worked for their DoJ long enough to make it to Jan 2026 and actually dig a deep enough trough of new dishonor to make even them quit. The bottom never stops sinking.

there's a desperation to slam the lid shut on our teetering democratic system. theres an urgency because they fear, probably correctly, that their existence has become such that a society of free people can no longer tolerate them. it's their pile of money or us, and they're choosing their money

no longer content to just take your money, a handful of oligarchs, many of them immigrants to these shores, are now taking whats left of your freedom and political power. the very idea that you might have a say in your local government or sit unmolested in your home is offensive to them

I honestly liked the X-Men nostalgia-bait trailer, but then I belted out a laugh at the 11 month countdown. Come on, man. You can't do a countdown for a whole year! That's not anticipation, that's a threat. It's like the meteor in FF7! lol.

If Democrats get a House majority, they need to rapid-fire impeachments for the rest of his term, regardless of removal. There's a huge pile of legitimate charges to litigate. Remember "Benghazi"? Do that, but with actual crimes. Why not? Seize his ability to control the headlines.

I don't love that everyone here feels the need to preface their Venezuela statements with saying they don't like Maduro, as if anybody was asking. Everybody just knows the far-right bullshit arguments by heart now. It's so predictable and tedious that preempting them is just a reflex.

One of my least favorite developments in news media is staring at planes journalism. I guess it's a slow news day and that's their only camera.

Impeach him immediately! When people say it's pointless w/o votes to remove, they don't understand two things: 1. The numerous crimes that didn't draw an impeachment make as much a statement as those that do. 2. Making him fight legal battles for literally years can be an effective action itself.

Hearing the Ghostbusters theme again, I'm reminded that while we tend to think of superheroes as the modern mythology, we've also added to the mythological canon that you can call the private ghost janitors and jail the dead.

I saw Wake Up Dead Man last night and I'm coming down on the side of it being the best one. It is less fun and funny, but more substantive. I get that if you're looking for laughs there's less of that. But I loved it. It's got more to say IMO. Also, the few jokes are pretty amazing. #blutoid

I'm seeing a new wave of politics accounts on here, so let me remind you: any account that does nothing but politics is probably somebody's job and should be blocked.

In this season of looking back, my big kudos for art I experienced in 2025 goes to Weaveworld (1987) by Clive Barker. After a long, wild ride, the ending to this filled me with joy. And that was in a year I read several excellent books. It was the right story at the right time for me. #blutoid
