This should be the new “recognizes and points at something” meme

Tonight’s movie: Frankenstein (2025). Starring Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth….and the sluttiest hat in cinematic history.

Tonight’s movie: War Horse (2011). The bloodless storybook version of WWI! Also featuring Cumberborgus Bandersnatch & a spectacular expression from Tom Hiddleston during the charge of the light brigade. Otherwise, I haven’t encountered this much woodenness since that one-night stand in Mexico City

Sligo’s Christmas decorations are uterus-n-fallopian tubes and I’m so here for it

I like how the Uilleann pipes player from Riverdance is number five, and then Markus Schenkenberg is squeezed in at the end like a last-minute pity add

I made this list when I was 16. Welcome to 1997.

(Bonus points if you can place every single one of these men)

Deep Space Nine S5E19: “Ties of Blood and Water.” Another episode seemingly written specifically to f*** me up 😢.

So good.

And now:

A dramatic reading of my one-star reviews.

Set design coming along for OHIO!. The second act occurs entirely in a labor camp recreation room. 🙃

Tonight’s movie: Jules et Jim (1962). Sprightly beginning, but unfortunately it got less and less interesting as it went on. There might have been some metaphor about interbellum Europe that I missed? But generally just seemed like the French equivalent of “b/tches be crazy amirite”

Let the record show that I tried to find a Bible-themed Advent calendar. Alas; the Lindor heathens have bested the market.

True!! it’s taken at an angle. Here is one that’s more head on.

Tonight’s movie: The Faculty (1998), a touchstone I’ve never seen. I came for the bad fashion and pre-LotR Elijah Wood, but I also see it has….Jon Stewart, Selma Hayek, Famke Janssen, Robert Patrick, Jordana Brewster, AND MORE!? Watching this is like reading the April issue of Seventeen magazine 😂

Can anyone tell at a glance what font this is?

Trying to replicate it for my anti/fa theatre design.

Tonight’s movie: Barton Fink (1990). It was such a slow burn that I nearly fell asleep, which I never do….but now, of course, the ending has me rethinking everything.

Hmmmm, do you think I should use these dried shrimp I bought yesterday, or nah

I had no idea that the Doctor from Voyager was based on Julian! What a nice nugget.

Also, my favorite fact about Robert Picardo is that he also played the swamp hag Meg Mucklebones in Legend

Tonight’s DS9 episode: “Dr. Bashir, I Presume?”

A whole Julian episode, my favorite—and it’s such a good one! My baby is genetically engineered??? 🫦😏

Tonight’s movie: The Beasts (2022). Phenomenal acting, directing, cinematography—everything, across the board. Hell of a movie to watch when you’ve just moved to a new country though. 😵‍💫

Current pleasure read. It’s really wonderful, @moudhy.bsky.social 🤩

Tonight’s movie: Your Name / Kimi No Na Wa (2016). I’ve had this on my watchlist since Hanoi. It was so good. Gorgeous animation—especially the use of light. It also “answers” the question of why we sometimes feel sudden, intense affinity for people we’ve never met or places we’ve never been. ❤️‍🩹

Cold days here. If I pull my cowl up, I look like Shai-Hulud

Whew, this episode. “For the Uniform.” Revealed a really ugly side of Sisko, imo. But I’m glad Eddington is living to see another day… he’s such a fascinating character.
