We have two outside-only cats that we adopted from Feral Change in Oakland. This morning my wife gazed onto our tiny back porch with its cat beds, and said, “I feel they are enrichment for our enclosure.”

First, I survived picking up two cane toads last night; didn’t lick them and apparently that helps.
Second, other people’s vacation photos are mostly boring, it’s true, but hey! Waterfalls — we hiked through the rainforest to see three of them (and I jumped into the cool water at the topmost one).

Third-best sighting: a small reef shark, as ever busily trying to mind their business...elsewhere. :) Sharks are so cool, and now that I've seen several I'm much less panicked about them. I credit this to the Fijian snorkelers taking us -- if local folks are relaxed, I'm relaxed too!

Third-best sighting: a small reef shark, as ever busily trying to mind their business...elsewhere. :) Sharks are so cool, and now that I've seen several I'm much less panicked about them. I credit this to the Fijian snorkelers taking us -- if local folks are relaxed, I'm relaxed too!

Best sighting of the day while snorkeling: a half-meter porcupinefish! It looked as if it was smiling...which is just its mouth, of course, but at least we know it didn't feel seriously threatened -- it would have blown up into a spiky ball.
